Remote Coding Consultant Technical Specifications

In order to be able to successfully code remotely for United Audit Systems Inc., you will need the appropriate computer systems in place:

  1. The computer must be able to make a connection to UASI servers. Software to do this is included by default in Windows XP and Vista operating systems. Windows 2000 and 98 can run this connection software, but it must be installed separately. Linux and Mac operating systems can also make the connections, but this software is not supported by UASI technical staff.
  2. The computer must be connected to the Internet via a high speed or broadband connection. Dial up modem connections are not permitted. Satellite connections are high speed but the latency that is inherent in these connections generally makes them incompatible with the UASI connection. Telephone DSL and Cable TV high speed connections generally are able to connect successfully to UASI. UASI technical staff cannot guarantee that any connection method will work due to the many variables that an Internet connection can have.
  3. The computer and monitor must be able to display a resolution of at least 1280 by 1024 pixels. Many newer 17 and 19 inch wide screen monitors and most laptop screens may be able to present 1280 pixels horizontally but can only present 800 or 960 pixels vertically. This is not acceptable for a UASI connection due to the specifications of the software running. To check your systems screen resolution: In Windows XP – right click anywhere on the desktop that is empty. Select Properties from the menu that pops up. Select the Settings tab and look at screen resolution. In Windows Vista – right click anywhere on the desktop that is empty. Select Personalize from the menu that pops up. In the Personalize box select Display Settings at the bottom. If your system cannot display 1280 by 1024 pixels you will be required to obtain a monitor that will do so.
  4. The computer must have anti-virus, anti-spyware and firewall software of some kind installed. Windows XP and Vista have an acceptable firewall installed by default.
